Gunrock started his life in the Kingdom of Konugar, and showed early promise as a stonemason. And, as methodical as dwarven life was for Gunrock, he became one. He spent the next fifty years perfecting his craft.
All went well, until one day he came upon a map by way of human traders that showed a potential treasure. Gunrock took this to mean that there was a potential way to increase the glory of Clan Stonebeard and, simultaneously, expand the Kingdom of Konugar. So, Gunrock formed a plan to do so. Of course, leaving the Crafthall of the Ironhammer Stonemasons not through injury or death meant exile, and exiled he was.
But not before forming a group of other dwarves that were willing to take the risk of exile from the Ironhammers (or were too dim to truly understand what that meant). Stannock, out for vengeance for the death of his family (and as a hill dwarf, would be invaluable for interpreting human ways), Athura (too dim to know the risks), and Roondora (What can one say about her that hasn’t already been said?)… These four dwarves struck out for an isolated human community next to an ancient chaos keep, where it is said that gold and sacrifices flowed in like a river, but never exited.
So, after a decade of living there, and occasionally probing the keep… The dwarves awoke something that was not yet dead, a sleeping water beast that awoke the spirits of chaos. And, within a few months, villagers were disappearing, and the dwarves suggested starting a posse to investigate. Upon is investigation, treasure was found, and so the group returns to Konugar, to report the validity of the treasure in the starless sea.
